Wendy Yanagihara is a writer and artist based in southern California.

Wendy has researched and written around 40 guidebooks for international travel publisher Lonely Planet, as well as articles for the BBC, The Guardian, Lonely Planet Magazine, Orbitz, and KimKim, among other outlets.

She has traveled to all continents except Antarctica – rafting Class V rapids on the Nile, hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim, trekking Papua's Baliem Valley, sighting pink dolphins in the Amazon, and picking her way across a Patagonian glacier along the way.

Wendy is also a visual artist whose preferred medium is oil painting but who also works in photography, fiber art, and sculpture.
